About

Goal: Promote best practices, mentor developers and do awesome front-end development

Hey there, thanks for taking a look at my profile page. This should hopefully give you some background into what I’ve done and what I’m doing but there are more details down below.

In February 2002, I started freelancing as a Web Designer with just the basics of HTML and CSS. From there, I gained more of my developer hat learning JavaScript and also PHP and MySQL. As a full-time freelancer, having both server and client side chops was important.

In May of 2010, I was given the opportunity to join Ally Financial in a contract role. Over the course of that year and 2011 I grew my talents, skills and passion even more. Eventually, that led to me being the Lead Developer that supported the Bank line of business at Ally. This allowed me to work on some really cool projects (ATM Locator, client-side A/B Testing Framework, etc).

In 2012, I was promoted to a Management role over a Front-End Development Team (Web Presentation Architecture) at Ally. I managed a team of 6 front-end developers and 1 content entry person. The tools and technologies that my team and myself used included: HTML5, CSS3, Sass, Compass, HAML, PhantomJS for headless unit and layout integration testing using Jasmine and Cucumber and much more providing an exciting environment for both my team and myself.

In March 2013, I was given the awesome opportunity to join appendTo as a dedicated Senior Trainer. In this role, I provide support to appendTo’s 3 core learning opportunities: Onsite Training, Virtual Training and Conference Training. I deliver comprehensive training for technologies such as: JavaScript, jQuery, jQuery Mobile, Backbone.js, Web Standards along with others.

Skills: HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Backbone.js, Semantic Markup, Web Standards, Accessibility, Usability, Test/Behavior Driven Development, Presentations/Talks, Git, GitHub
